If you think hockey is a stereotype of Canada...

So there is a local park just down the road from us. In the States we have basketball courts, tennis courts, and baseball diamonds...

That is a nearly 3/4 size rink with real boards, metal posted nets, and high fences. Free to use. I have signed up to flood it this year for an ice surface.

Just ten minutes down the road is the city. It is really nice. You don't have to watch over your shoulder as you walk down the street. They aren't really good pictures, but it is something.

Lastly, I did some golfing by myself since I had nothing better to do while I wasn't working. Cheap and easy golf course, just beyond the hockey rink.

Park just a few minutes from our house.

Short post.....
One thing great about our area is the we can be in the city of Calgary in about 10 mins, but the pictures shown are about 2 mins from us too. We have access to the Rockies about 45 minutes west as well (those pictures to come later). These are of the Bow River. It is a cool place as there are always people enjoying the river. Some people float it in tubes. Others just sit in the shore or on a sand bar in chairs. The rest have the dogs slimming in the waters. Not to far inside the woods are bike trails. Some are dirt and others are a semi-solid gravel. The water is glacier runoff, so the water isn't that warm. Just a quick look into the one of the parks down the road.
